OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2011. It was said by the representative of the European Commission Ilian Kostov at the workshop on the issues of food security and bringing Moldovan legal norms in line with European Union’s veterinary standards, held in Chisinau.

According to Kostov, about 10 specialized companies of Moldova will acquire a right to export meat to the EU states by 2014. In his turn, the Deputy Director of the Agency for Veterinary Sanitary and Animal Origin Products Safety Grigorii Porcescu said Moldovan companies are already working at this problem.

Laboratories used to check only a part of meat, but now the whole production is subject to the laboratory control. In addition, Grigorii Porcescu said the EU and the World Bank had provided financial support to Moldova to equip laboratories checking quality of meat.
