OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2011. Karaganda oblast telecommunication direction (further Karaganda OTD) made interim results on realization of 3 stage of the project on telephonization of villages by WLL CDMA-450 radio access technology in Aktogay and Shetsky regions of Karagnda oblast, reported the press-centre of Kazakhtelecom.

All 36 villages were telephonized in Aktogay region. 15 ATS was installed in the region, 6 of them are digital, 9 analogous. One WLL CDMA base station for 660 numbers installed in regional center of Aktogay in 2011. As of 1 April of this year 475 subscribers have been connected to this base station.

61 villages also have been telephonized in Shetsky region. 19 ATS function there, 13 of them are digital and 6 are analogous. One WLL CDMA base station for 660 numbers installed in regional center of Aksu-Ayulya in 2011. As of 1 April of this year 592 subscribers are connected to this station.

In general 16 base stations with 11 163 numbers, where 800 are on municipal telecommunication network and 10 363 are on rural network have been installed within the realization of the project “Upgrading and development of rural telecommunication by WLL CDMA – 450 technology” from 2008 till present in Karaganda oblast.

Buranbay Amanov, Director General for Karaganda OTD: “3 stage of the project “Upgrading and development of rural telecommunication network by WLL CDMA-450 technology” is planned to be completed in 2011. Due to the development plan of Karaganda OTD upgrading and development of rural telephony by wireless radio access technology will be continued till 2013. 12 base stations of CDMA-450 are planned to be installed in Abay, Aktogay, Karkaralinsk, Shetsky, Zhanaarkinsky regions, also Shakhtinsk, Saran and Zhezkazgan. Increase of capacity of rural telecommunication networks is planned for 7 133 numbers.

Information
CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) standard is digital, uses frequency band in a range of 450 MHz. Coverage zone of CDMA-450 base stations in rural area is 25-35 km. One station serves up to 1000 subscribers.

Breaking nature of the project is included in that WLL CDMA-450 technology is optimal for rural area both from costs, realization terms and perspectives of use.

In the whole over 420 base stations have been installed by the republic from the beginning of project realization. Today CDMA-450 network functions on all territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and covers 4 570 villages.
