Uzbekistan Reports on Socio-Economic Development in 1Q
OREANDA-NEWS. May 04, 2011. The regional administration of Ferghana held discussions of the results of socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2011.
Chaired by region’s khokim N. Nematov, the meeting focused on implementation of priorities defined by President Karimov at Cabinet’s meeting of 21 January 2011.
In the 1Q, the gross regional product was executed by 110.5%. Particularly, growth in the industry amounted 7.3%, production of consumer goods – 13.5%, agriculture 5.1%, construction – 70.7%, retail trade – 14.4% and services – 14.4%.
In the framework of the Anti-Crisis Program, significant work was undertaken to modernize production and attract investment, increase production volume. On the basis of 11 projects new facilities were launched. The concrete measures were taken for development of agriculture, support of farming, small business and private entrepreneurship, improvement of social infrastructure in villages.
Meeting participants analyzed the progress of the work of the state program of “Year of a small business and entrepreneurship.” It was noted that in accordance with the program commercial banks allocated credits worth 59.3 billion soums to small and private businesses in 1Q.
As a result of implementation of regional employment program over 21,600 new jobs were created during the reporting period. Seventy one percent of these new jobs were established in the countryside.
