OREANDA-NEWS. May 03, 2011. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power utility with many firsts in technological and quality excellence, organised Quality Nite — an award function to recognise the employees of the Quality Circle at the Jojobera Thermal Power Station, Jamshedpur. The chief guest for the evening, Rakeshwar Pandey, president, Tata Power Employees Union, handed over the awards to the winning quality teams.

As part of the quality movement, the processes and control measures implemented at the Jojobera plant are showcased through case studies and technical papers at various national and international forums. The exercise enables sharing of best practices and garnering feedback to further improve the quality process at Tata Power.

This year, three Quality Circle teams from the plant participated in the International Convention of Quality Circles held at Hyderabad, and all three teams received top honours at the convention. Similarly, two Quality Circle teams also participated at the National Convention on Quality Control Circles held at Vizag, and were awarded ‘Par Excellent’ and ‘Excellent’ rankings.  

Speaking on the occasion, PL Manjrekar, general manager, Jojobera Thermal Power Station, Tata Power, said, “Tata Power is committed towards total employee involvement in its quality initiatives. QC teams have done good projects which have helped the division significantly.”

Tata Power organises an annual function to felicitate outstanding employees / teams, for contribution towards the Quality Circle movement. The annual function also gives an opportunity to the company to motivate the employees, thus providing further impetus to the quality movement at Tata Power.

Tata Power has received domestic as well as international recognition for its quality movement. The procedures and methodologies deployed at the Jojobera generation facility are in continuance with Tata Power’s concerted efforts towards total quality assurance.
