OREANDA-NEWS. May 03, 2011. Reliance Infrastructure Limited has commissioned another 400 kV Double Circuit transmission line, part of country's first 100% privately owned transmission project in India on Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis. This line has been constructed in the Western Region between Limdi (Chorania) and Ranchodpura (Vadavi) passing through three important business districts of Gujarat - namely Surendernagar, Ahmedabad and Mehasana.

103 Kms long 400kV double circuit Limdi - Ranchodpura transmission line is a part of the Western Regional System Strengthening (WRSS) project having an outlay of about Rs 1,400 crore and a total length of 1,500 Kms. RInfra's wholly owned subsidiary company, Reliance Power Transmission Ltd. (RPTL) had recently commissioned first line of the project, Solapur - Karad transmission line, in Jan 2011, much before the scheduled commissioning in a record time of 15 months. Company is expected to commission the complete project by the Q2FY12.

Once commissioned, the project would facilitate the free flow of 4,000 MW from power rich Eastern region to the power starved Western region of the country and would benefit all regional utilities. This would also immediately aid in relieving grid congestion presently being experienced in Gujarat.

While commenting on the development, RInfra CEO & Whole Time Director, Mr. Lalit Jalan said, "We are committed to create world class power infrastructure to boost up the growth and proud to announce the commissioning of second transmission line under the WRSS project. We are confident that the entire project would maintain the Reliance's legacy of quality project executions and facilitate overcoming the grim power situation in Western Regions as power can smoothly flow from the power rich Eastern regions to the Western regions." He further added, "Successful commissioning of the project well before scheduled time reflects inherent strengths of the Company in executing projects." The project has come up with the highest level of safety standards as there was no single safety related incident reported during the entire execution process.

Currently, RInfra is executing 5 transmission projects spreading across almost all parts of the country with a total project outlay of over Rs 6,600 crore. The Company owns 2 out of 5 Ultra Mega Transmission projects awarded to private sector till date, making RInfra as the largest developer of transmission projects in private space.
