OREANDA-NEWS. May 03, 2011. Baosteel accomplished the production task of high grade NGO silicon steel for large hydropower units of Three Gorges Project ahead of schedule, and all performance indexes of the products reach customer's requirements, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

High grade NGO silicon steel is the material to manufacture the core parts of large hydropower units. In the previous phase construction of the Three Gorges Project, the high grade NGO silicon steel for large hydrogenerator always adopted the imported products. In May last year, Baosteel's high grade NGO silicon steel passed the review by the State Council Three Gorges Project Office.

In order to accomplish the material supply task smoothly, Baosteel NGO silicon steel team set out from the total process, optimized item by item the critical process requirement for each process step of steel-making, hot rolling, cold rolling and annealing, conducted the verification of mass production in accordance with the uninterrupted rolling-on advancing mode, modified and improved the process data of each process and improved the control level. The comprehensive conformity rate and performance conformity rate of the products improve very fast, and the actual performance of the products is equivalent to that of the products made by international first class enterprises.

The successful supply this time marks that the production control level of Baosteel's NGO silicon steel products has climbed up a new step and is very meaningful to the long-term stable development of national energy undertaking.
