SUEK Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary
OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2011. OJSC Siberian Coal Energy Company (OJSC SUEK) celebrates its 10th anniversary. Hence, the management and employees of the company receive numerous congratulations.
"Commitment to best mining traditions of Russia combined with innovative approach and integration of cutting-edge science and technology achievements, advanced standards of corporate governance, a grand scale investment agenda, and a constructive social policy have enabled the Company to be boasting the leader status throughout these years," specifies Igor Sechin, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, while congratulating the Company personnel.
Igor Sechin speaks on about the importance of SUEK to further development of the industry: "Being a leader means not only taking honor but also taking responsibility including the responsibility for further development of the entire industry. Today, the Company sets the pace in innovative strategic development of Russia's coal industry, devising and implementing plenty of innovations, including those related to coal mining and processing."
Vladimir Kozhin, Head of the Administrative Directorate, also marks the Company's important social role: "SUEK is a vivid example of a sustainable company providing people with light, heat and good. Over the decade of fruitful growth the Company has not only scored a top position in the Russian economy but has also become a role model as a responsible entity caring for future generations, setting up new high standards of community oriented business."
"Over the years SUEK has been confidently progressing. The Company has sealed its leading position in coal mining, using innovative technologies in the coal industry, while staying a reliable supplier of fuel for both Russian and foreign consumers. SUEK has become a major private investor in Russia's energy sector, thereby producing one of the most effective vertically integrated coal-and-energy producing businesses. Today, one may confidently state that SUEK shapes new standards of the highest order in coal and energy industry, sets their growth vector," says in his congratulation Sergei Shmatko, Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation.
Leaders of all the regions the Company operates in also congratulate SUEK and its employees: Aman Tuleev, Governor of the Kemerovo Region; Lev Kuznetsov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory; Viktor Zimin, Head of the Republic of Khakassia; Vyacheslav Nogovitsin, President-Prime Minister of the Republic of Buryatia; Vyacheslav Shport, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory; Sergei Dar'kin, Governor of the Primorie Territory; Alexander Karlin, Governor of the Altai Territory; Ravil' Geniatoulin, Governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory.
Specifically, Governor of the Kemerovo Region Mr. Aman Tuleev notes: "I regard as most important the Company's focus on miners' workplace safety. This effort not only protects miners' lives and health but also improves productivity. By way of illustration, the 2004-2010 period yielded a two-fold increase in productivity at SUEK operations located in Kuzbass. In the meantime, miners' salaries tripled. I wish to emphasize that SUEK is an exemplary, successful, community oriented business. The laborers' wages here are among the highest across Kuzbass coal mines and energy producing facilities. A sizable social security package is available comprising corporate allowances, along with programs for health improvement and recreation of the workers and their children. Besides, the Company management does not neglect their veteran employees and that is as important as anything of the above."
Mikhail Schadov, Minister of Coal Industry of the USSR pays tribute to the Company's major role in promoting the coal industry growth: "While modernizing the foundation and upgrading the appearance of the Russian coal mining, you have carefully kept and enhanced the best achievements of the past decades, the legacy underlying the glory of our coal industry. I especially appreciate that."

It involves a high responsibility and daily laborious efforts, requiring professional competence and selfless dedication," believes Alexei Miller, Chair of OJSC Gazprom. Vladimir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, points out partner relations of between the companies: "During the first decade of its life the Company has turned into a major, dynamically growing industrial business of our country. SUEK ranks among the largest shippers using the Russian railway network and has been pushing to become the best of them over the recent years."
