OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2011. Construction of geological engineering models of multi-layered oil fields with a large number of wells and a long history is carried out at TATNEFT with application of a geologist's "Lazurit" computerized workstation (geologist's workstation "Lazurit") developed by experts of TatNIPIneft, reported the press-centre of TATNEFT.

This program is an effective tool for drawing up design documents for the development of oil fields, allowing planning geological and technical activities and regulating the development process. Application of this program allows making look-ahead calculations, which are later verified in practice, and taking managerial decisions.

The geologist's workstation "Lazurit" has a wide range of applications. It provides for estimates of initial crude oil reserves and distribution of production and injection by layers. The program calculates the structure of residual oil reserves and performs an automated search of sites and wells to be candidates for geological and technical operations.

Functionality of the system also includes the evaluation of different activities, including well drilling, sidetracking, application of dual completion and production/injection technology, re-perforation and isolation of beds, application of hydraulic fracturing and tertiary enhanced oil recovery methods.

The economic effect of a single application of the geologist's workstation "Lazurit" has amounted to more than 90 million rubles for the period of three years. To date, the program is successfully implemented at the sites of nine oil and gas production boards of the Company.
