Dmitry Medvedev Made Working Trip to Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory
OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev held a meeting on workers’ social situations and developing vocational education, visited the Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory, and met with students from Moscow Region vocational schools.
At the meeting with students from Moscow Region vocational schools, held at the Lytkarino College of Technology, Economics and Entrepreneurship, the President and the students discussed re-equipment of vocational colleges, raising the prestige of working professions, and social support for workers.
The meeting on workers’ social situation and developing vocational education was held at the Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory (LZOS). The President toured the production facilities and reviewed sample products. LZOS was founded in 1939 and is now one of the largest manufacturers of optical materials in Europe. The factory produces more than 360 types of optical colour and colourless glass, employs technologies to manufacture mirrors for astronomical telescopes and equipment for space observation, and launched production of various fibre optics.
Prior to his trip to Lytkarino, Dmitry Medvedev received multiple messages about the town’s poor conditions. The President changed the schedule of his trip to tour the town and meet local residents in order to learn their opinions of the local authorities’ performance.
