OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2011. Recently, Baosteel won the bid for Daxie Island Bridge project. Shaoguan Steel Co. will undertake material supply task along with Baosteel, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Daxie Island Bridge project is an important project in the development of Ningbo Daxie port and coastal economic development as well as the largest bridge project investment to date of Daxie Island. The bridge crosses the Beilun District of Ningbo City and the Daxie Island. The main bridge is a twin towers single cable steel box girder plane cable stayed bridge. The project started its construction in March this year and is planed for opening in June 2012.

Daxie Island Bridge construction requires heavy plates, medium plates and hot rolled plates with total demand of 16000 tons. From the perspective of project quality and construction risk, Project owner required bidding in the form of tied bid of steel structure processing units and steel enterprises instead of the former separate bidding. CRBBI, as a steel structure enterprise which has long-term good relationship with Baosteel, cooperated with Baosteel this time and compete with other three bidding consortiums in the bidding.

To ensure the supply of resource, Baosteel major project material supply system organizes internal resource coordination group, studied carefully steel demand and integrated cost-effective and adopted package supply mode to ensure the successful bid.Under the leadship of  Baosteel Co.,Ltd. Marketing Management  Department's major project material office, Baosteel International, Southern Co.Ltd., thin slab, heavy plate sales department, Shaoguan Steel sales department, hot rolling mill and thick plate department formed an overall package material supply organization system, and established the mode of  large size heavy plate and ordinary hot-rolled sheet supply by  relevant factories in  Baosteel Co.,Ltd., and small size heavy and medium plate supply by Shaoguan Steel. During the bid, the owners expressed satisfaction of Baosteel brand name and integrated supply strength. Ultimately, Baosteel and CRBBI  team won the bid.

It should be noted that this is the first time for Shaoguan Steel to participate in  material supply for Baosteel major projects. This has great significance in enhancing the visibility of their products, and promoting Baosteel's synergy in the field of  major projects so as to achieve complementarity and resource development.
