Mitsubishi Electric Doubles Employee Donation for Japan
OREANDA-NEWS. April 27, 2011. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today that the company and its employees will donate a total of 274,313,678 Japanese yen through the company's matching gift program, the Mitsubishi Electric SOCIO-ROOTS Fund, to aid and support victims affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Contributions from Mitsubishi Electric employees in Japan amounted to 137,156,839 yen, which will be matched by the company and passed on to the Central Community Chest of Japan on April 28, 2011. This 274 million yen contribution will be made in addition to the 500 million yen corporate donation by Mitsubishi Electric announced on March 14.
Mitsubishi Electric expresses its deepest sympathies for those affected by the disaster and sincerely hopes for a quick recovery.
About the Mitsubishi Electric SOCIO-ROOTS Fund
Established in 1992 as one of Japan's first employee donation matching programs, the Mitsubishi Electric SOCIO-ROOTS Fund involves the company's operations nationwide, and has attracted the participation of over 1,000 employees each year. As of March 2011, the Fund has provided over 580 million yen to some 1,400 various social welfare facilities and programs.
