Tata Power Lights up Lives of Naraj Marthapur Residents
OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2011.
Tata Power has always endeavoured to make a difference in the lives of the locals around its area of operations. The installation of solar streetlights is an effort towards providing a robust infrastructure and through innovative efforts.
Tata Power conducted an in-depth outreach programme to understand the shortfalls on the basic infrastructure prevailing around Naraj Marthapur. Taking cognisance of this requirement and in consultation with Advanced Power State Management, local villagers and sarpanchs, Tata Power zeroed in on 45 locations which did not have electricity supply.
Speaking about the initiative, Purushottam Thakur, general manager, projects, Tata Power, said, “This is a unique and innovative initiative that Tata Power has undertaken and also forms a part of our sustainability agenda. We are certain the people will appreciate our efforts towards lighting up their villages. We will continue to extend our support to these village communities.”
Tata Power plans to put some more solar lights in and around the villages in the near future. The company is already engaged in various community initiatives to create self-employment opportunities in the region including for women of Naraj Marthapur who are being trained to be empowered.
