The following technologies of drilling small diameter wells are successfully implemented in TATNEFT: "Method of a small diameter well construction" and "Complex of technologies to optimize costs in the construction of small diameter wells", reported the press-centre of Tatneft.

The method of small diameter wells construction designed in Tatneft is applied for crude oil recovery enhancement at individual areas (at the account of infill drilling) and for arrangement of development systems through drilling of injection wells. Slim-hole drilling reduces the cost of a well construction up to 40 percent compared to the conventional well design. This allows cost-effective development of small fields and crude oil deposits.

The patented technology complex of drilling the small diameter wells is used at the field areas in Tatarstan, where drilling is accompanied by various kinds of complications (lost circulation of drilling fluid, rocks sloughing, drill string sticking, etc.).

Ensuring the conditions for successful construction and operation of the wells, while fulfilling the requirements of protection of mineral resources in such areas requires innovative solutions. Under the technology proposed by the oilmen trouble zones are drilled and then stepwise cementing of lost circulation intervals is performed. The patented complex increases the penetration rate, reduces the well construction cycle, helps preventing accidents and complications with optimization of costs in the construction of small diameter wells.
