Carlsberg Group Plans to Increase Share of Its Production in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. April 25, 2011. Carlsberg Group plans to increase the share of its production in Moldova’s beer market from 11% in 2010 to 25% in 2013. The main growth – from 11% to 20% - is expected in 2011. It was said by Petr Chernishev, Director General of the Ukrainian company Slavutich, a member of the Carlsberg Group, at the presentation of the Garslberg company in Moldova.
He emphasized that Slavutich had purchased a daughter company of the Baltica concern in Moldova in January 2011, therefore, uniting all brands, belonging to the Carlsberg Group into one company– ICS “Carlsberg” SRL. Moldova has 11 brands of the company presented: Slavutich, Baltica, Tuborg, Carlsberg, Kronenbourg 1664, Corona Extra, Livovskoye, Jigulevskoye, Bolishaya Krujka, Kvas Taras, Holsten.
The distributors of this production in the country are the companies Glorinal Grup, Lux Proba and Sheriff (Transnistria). Dmitry Lugovsky, the Director of the Carlsberg Group representative office in Moldova, said the company would stake on promotion of Slavutich, Baltica and Tuborg brands, and five brands of beer will be sold in the country for bottling: Carlsberg, Балтика, Slavutich, Tuborg, Kronensburg. Petr Chernishev said that according to data of the World Health Organization, 26 liters of alcohol per man were consumed in Moldova in 2010, with 12 liters of them – the so called illegal alcohol (no taxes were paid for it).
In Romania, this indicator was 15 liters (including 4 liters – illegal), un Ukraine – 12 liters (including 8 – illegal); in Russia – 16 liters (including 5 – illegal). Beer consumption in Moldova, according to data of the World Health Organization, totals 35 liters per a man a year (in Romania – 79, Russia – 76, Ukraine -57). Thus, Petr Chernnishev emphasized, Carlsberg in Moldova will contribute to population’s switch from consumption of spirits to less strong bverages. 116 people work in the Carlsberg company in Moldova. The biggest share of the beer market in Moldova currently belongs to the Efes company – 74%, followed by Carlsberg – 11%, Obolon – 6%, InBev – 4%, others – 5%.
The share of the Moldovan market in the consolidated volume of sales of the Ukrainian company “Slavutich” makes up about 3%.
