Azerbaijan Plans Creation of National Nuclear Base
OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2011. The Azerbaijan National Centre of the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) has stated of an intention to intensify its activities.
The National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (AMEA) reports that this statement was made by Centre’s executive director Dinara Abbasova at the presentation of the Centre, held at the AMEA Institute of Radiation Problems.
Abbasova says that they plan to take measures to increase the number of users of the Centre, set up a national nuclear base and take a position in the INIS. A project of a Web portal of the national centre is planned within the stipulated measures to revitalize Centre’s activity.
She also informed that for period of its activity (since 2003) the Centre added 941 stories in the INIS database. The purpose of the Centre is trace scientific news in the field of atomic research produced in the world and provide for the world public the news relating to achievements of Azerbaijani scientists and organizations engaged in atomic research.
INIS presents rich experience and large amount of information in nuclear sphere. It was created in April of 1970 and has become one of the most successful and universal information systems on peaceful usage of nuclear science and technique since then.
On 18 April 2011, INIS presented a new web-search interface for its documental fund. Over 3.3 million of bibliography records and 280,000 full texts of non-traditional documents have been indexed fully for Internet search through Google-technologies.
