OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2011. IBA in cooperation with IBM Eastern Europe/Asia (IBM EE/A) and NETKOM, an IBM distributor in the CIS countries, conducted the workshop “IBM Day” in Minsk, Belarus, reported the press-centre of IBA.

The seminar “Our solutions for your business” was dedicated to the IBM Cognos and IBM SPSS-based solutions that IBA offers to its Belarusian customers. The solutions are intended for creation of the following systems:

Systems of planning, control, and business analysis for the financial and credit sectors

Systems of statistic analysis and forecast for the financial and credit sectors, mobile service providers, internet providers, and tourist centers.

More than 55 representatives of 19 banks, manufacturing enterprises, and government institutions attended the event.

Ryhor Zlobin, IBA Technical Director; Sergei Tabulin, IBM EE/A Sales Director; and Alex Sakharov, Team Leader for marketing at NETKOM, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

Opening the workshop session, Zlobin said: “It is pleasant to perceive that Belarusian business community is not just interested in possessing the reliable information, but in analyzing it to take competent management decisions.”

At the event, IBA, IBM EE/A, and NETKOM delivered the following presentations:

IBM SPSS: statistics that serves business

Automated Opinion Poll System (AOPS): opinion poll process and analysis of results

IBM Cognos: deriving benefit from your data

System of planning, analysis, and control for Alfa-Bank

In addition, Alfa-Bank presented methodological approaches to planning and management of banking business, and successful projects IBA implemented in budgeting, control and business analysis areas. IBA jointly with Information and Analysis Center of Administration of the President of Belarus presented the results of the project that included AOPS creation and analysis of results by Beltelecom. The speakers considered possibilities of the system’s use to support business management decisions when analyzing efficiency of advertizing campaigns, planning and launch of new products, and evaluation of brand awareness.

During the breaks, the participants had a possibility to learn more about IBM Cognos solutions from the developers at the demonstration stands.

Summing up the event’s results, Sergei Akoulich, IBA Business Development Director, said:
“Today, our customer uttered a key phrase: “The system does really work”. Today we presented the first budgeting and control system for banking implemented on a specialized industrial IT platform. According to the opinion polls among the experts of Belarusian banks, satisfaction with the current budgeting systems amounts to less than 10 percent. Thus we hope that IBA technological and methodological practice will be taken into consideration by Belarusian banks.”
