OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2011. Freight One hauled 59,500 metric tons of aluminum in March 2011 from the Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Khakassia and Sayanogorsk aluminum smelters, an increase of 17.8% over the same period of last year. The deliveries were made to the ports of the Northwestern, Far Eastern, Azov and Black Sea regions.

Freight One made 98.8% of the aluminum deliveries from these plants in boxcars. Usually, when hauling in boxcars from Siberia to the west, Freight One gives a discount amounting to 29% of the total transportation cost of hauling in state-owned cars.

The positive trend in haulage can to a large extent be attributed to the company’s use of routing technology, which makes it possible to dispatch a single train consisting of 64—65 Freight One cars filled with aluminum. This cuts the transport time in half compared with deliveries in single cars. Every month, Freight One dispatches up to 8 organized trains with aluminum.
