Ukraine to Develop Tourism in West Coast of Crimea
OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2011. The Government of Ukraine and The Council of Ministers of Crimea are going to create all necessary conditions to accelerate tourism development in the west coast of Crimea. This assured Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Infrastructure Minister Borys Kolesnikov and the Head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea Vasyl Dzharty.
“There is an order of the President of Ukraine on the development of the Crimean resort. We have carefully studied the southern coast of Crimea - to create large projects there it is rather problematic. So here, on the west coast, we want to create a project that close to Antalya: 100 hotels, several thousand hectares, entertainment area and an international airport - Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine said. - We will provide all networks (electricity, water supply, wastewater etc) build a new international airport, consider the construction of all required infrastructure. Business will construct only hotel and entertainment complexes.
In turn Vasyl Dzharty said that the Crimean government under its authority will do everything necessary to convert the West Crimea to world-class resort. “We must do a lot of serious work related, primarily, with land issues. Indeed, each development area is needed 200-300 acres - he said. - Land issues worked out by the Crimean government and we will prepare infrastructure projects; will create opportunities for tourism business development.
According to Borys Kolesnikov Ukraine's authority hopes within the next ten years to increase the number of tourists vacationing in the Crimea, to 20 million per year (in 2010 the Crimea visited about 6 million tourists).
Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine also said that before starting large-scale development of tourism of the western Crimea, it is necessary to modernize the region's transportation system.
"Next year we will start to build a new international passenger terminal at the airport “Belbek”, will analyze how to approach the development of the airport in Evpatoria, tourists have to get to hotels with maximum comfort. But, of course, a railway and roads are main task "- said Boris Kolesnikov.
According to Vice Prime Minister authority of Ukraine is going to provide for tourists in Crimea level of service, similar to the tourists get on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. "To compete with Antalya, we have to create the conditions here, at least not worse than in Antalya”, - he said, adding that Ukrainian companies that decide to invest in building hotels in the west of the Crimea, will receive preference.
"The Government of Ukraine will compensate for these companies part of credits - to the European level of 4-5% a year to put the Ukrainian businessmen in equal conditions of with its Western partners", - Boris Kolesnikov said. He also said that for realization of this project will be used land that is now in the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine use.
