COSCO Upgrades Far East–U.S. East Coast Services
OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2011. CKYH–the Green Alliance (COSCO, "K"LINE, Yang Ming, Hanjin Shipping), announces to upgrade one of its Far East–U.S. East Coast services, AWE-5, from the end of April 2011, reported the press-centre of COSCO.
The AWE-5 service is currently operated by Yang Ming and Hanjin with nine of 4,250-4,300TEU class vessels. As a new partner, COSCO Container Lines (COSCON) will join in the operation and all the vessels employed will be upgraded to 5,500TEU class.
This new AWE-5 service will call the following ports in turn:
Kaohsiung–Hong Kong – Yantian – Ho Chi Minh – Singapore – (Suez Canal) – New York – Norfolk – Boston – (Suez Canal) – Singapore – Kaohsiung. With its own vessels direct calling at Ho Chi Minh and Boston, COSCON will be in a position for further growth in these markets.
With greater port coverage, COSCON will continue to enhance the quality of its service to customers.
The details of CKYH's five service routes between the Far East and U.S. East Coast are as follows:
AWE-1
Port rotation: Qingdao – Ningbo – Shanghai – Pusan – (Panama Canal) – New York – Wilmington – Savannah – (Panama Canal) – Pusan – Qingdao
Vessels deployed: nine 4,024TEU class vessels
AWE-2
Port rotation: Qingdao – Shanghai – Ningbo – Yokohama – (Panama Canal) – Savannah – Norfolk – New York – Boston - (Panama Canal) – Qingdao
Vessels deployed: nine 4,200-5,100TEU class vessels
AWE-3
Port rotation: Hong Kong – Yantian – Kaohsiung– Shanghai – Pusan – (Panama Canal) – Savannah – Charleston – Wilmington – Hong Kong
Vessels deployed: nine 4,250TEU class vessels
AWE-4
Port rotation: Ho Chi Minh – Shekou – Hong Kong – Yantian –Singapore – (Suez Canal) – Halifax –New York – Norfolk – Jacksonville – Savannah – Singapore – Ho Chi Minh.
Vessels deployed: nine 5,500TEU class vessels
AWE-5
Port rotation: Kaohsiung – Hong Kong – Yantian – Ho Chi Minh – Singapore – (Suez Canal) – New York – Norfolk – Boston – (Suez Canal) – Singapore – Kaohsiung
