OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2011. From the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations climate change conference in Copenhagen, the mankind has made increasingly concerted efforts to contain the global warming. At the just-concluded fourth Session of the 11th National People's Congress, energy conservation and emission reduction became the focal point of heated debates among the National People's Congress deputies from all walks of life, reported the press-centre of Datong Coal Mine Group.

At the session, National People's Congress deputy Wu Yongping who is also Chairman of the Datong Coal Mine Group and his fellow deputies from various circles fulfilled their duties in an earnest manner by actively raising proposals and suggestions to achieve the target of emission reduction.

In line with the Datong Coal Mine Group's development situation, Wu Yongping pointed out that coal enterprises should vigorously develop circular economy to save energy and reduce emission. He said industry is the main area of energy consumption and pollution discharge, therefore, it also becomes the main battlefield for energy conservation and emission reduction. To cut industrial energy consumption and industrial pollution discharge means to optimize the inventory and strictly control increment. To optimize inventory is to vigorously develop circular economy and enhance the industry's intensive development level. To strictly control increment is to raise the threshold by containing the expansion of industries of high energy consumption and high emission discharge. At the same time, it is to encourage industries to use new equipment, new technology and new process of a energy conservation and emission reduction nature.

Wu Yongping said the Datong Coal Mine Group will set up a three-dimensional circular economic structure. On the one hand, the group would rationally exploit and utilize such resources as coal gangue, coal slurry, fly ash, cinder so as to turn the wastes to treasures; on the other hand, it would adopt environment-friendly new process, new technology and new equipment in the newly-built, renovated or expanded projects, thus reducing the energy consumption and controlling the pollution in the first place.
