OREANDA-NEWS. April 19, 2011. National Joint Stock Company "Naftogaz Ukraine" extracted over 360 000 barrels of oil on the concession area of Alam El-Shawish East, Arab Republic of Egypt. After construction oil and gas pipelines, as well as base for crude oil and gas preparation, the planned total annual production in this area will be about 1 million tons of standard fuel.

Now there are five oil fields and gas fields at this area, and intelligence works, design and construction of infrastructure are being continued. Under the concession agreement on conduction of intelligence works and oil exploration national joint stock company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” and the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation have formed a joint venture "Petrosennan”.

As part of concession agreements to conduct oil intelligence and exploitation, signed on 13 December 2006 between Egypt and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (YEHNK) and the national joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine, the company holds search, exploration and development of oil and gas fields on the Eastern territory of Alam El Shawish East.

February 18, 2009 during a test of intelligence oil flow rate 80 tons (588 barrels) per day was received. Thus, on this day was the commercial opening, and from April 19, 2010 started early extraction of hydrocarbons on the concession area of Alam El Shawish East.

In addition, in order to expand the resource base of hydrocarbons in Egypt national joint stock company “Naftogaz of Ukraine" was studied geological and geophysical data and carried out a technical and economic substantiation of expediency of investing in promising exploration license block objects South Wadi Mahareeth and Wadi  Mahareeth in the Eastern Desert with total area 20 743 km. Initialed draft concession agreements to conduct oil intelligence and exploitation of these license blocks between Egypt and Ganope Company and subsidiary of “Zakordonnaftohaz”.
