OREANDA-NEWS. April 18, 2011. In 2010 Kovrov Engineering Works (City of Kovrov, Vladimir Region, affiliate of Rosatom Fuel Company “TVEL”) has confirmed the compliance of the Ecological Management System to the international standards ISO 14001.

Implementation of the Ecological Management System by the enterprise resulted in achievement of the target objectives in the field of ecology: water consumption (for drinking and for industrial needs) is reduced by 143,7 м3, consumption of power resources is reduced by 10 %, air emissions of contaminants are reduced by 7,16 tons; complex project of industrial waste water treatment systems is developed.

It was also possible to reduce excessive ecological payments from 538 600 rubles in 2009 to 142 800 rubles in 2010.

It became possible thanks to the organizational and technical activity, including regular replacement of the gas treatment units, commissioning of circulating water supply etc.

In 2011 it is planned to continue the work on inventory of the sources of the air emissions of contaminants, to finish warehouse building for nitric and sulfuric acid storage, to carry out m general overhaul of the tank of pure water in the territory of diversion facilities etc.

Compliance with the world standards in the field of ecological safety is one of the principal policies of the “Kovrov Engineering Works” JSC. Therefore, a Department of labor safety, ecology, civil defense and emergency situations was formed at the enterprise in April last year. In 2010 the “Kovrov Engineering Works” JSC had several audits for compliance of the ecological management system to the requirements ISO 14001. The collective has fulfilled all the tasks set by auditors to the fullest extent.

The factory plans include affiliation into the corporate management system of the Fuel Company “TVEL” in the field of professional safety and health OHSAS 18001:2007.
