OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2011. In the 1st quarter of 2011 the stevedoring companies of the group “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” handled over 2.2 mln. tons of cargoes which is by 14% less than within the same period of 2010.

Due to unfavorable ice conditions during this winter in the Gulf of Finland export turnover decreased almost by 30%- up to 1.6 mln. tons. However the companies of the group “SPSP” never stopped the operations and introduced no limits on handling of cargoes. As the result over 400 thousand tons were accumulated at the storage grounds of the group. Handling of these cargoes will make it possible to compensate for decrease of the turnover in the 1st quarter.

In particular, the export handling volumes of mineral fertilizers decreased up to 15 000 tons (-86%), export handling volumes of coal decreased up to 319 000 tons (-64%). Among general cargoes volumes of metals decreased up to 1 mln. tons (-6%), excluding pig iron, volumes of which increased up to 144 thousand tons (+37%). Handling volumes of ro-ro also increased and amounted to 84 thousand tons (+45%).

Import cargo flow increased twice in comparison with 2010 and amounted to 619 thousand tons. Within three months of 2011 there was growth of the volumes of bulk and loose cargoes, in particular ore – up to 106 thousand tons (+16%). Among general cargoes handling volumes of reefer cargoes increased twice up to 142 thousand tons and volumes of packaged cargoes increased thrice up to 174 thousand tons. Handling volumes of import ro-ro cargoes increased up to 186 thousand tons.

First Stevedoring Company handled about 1 mln. tons, which is the same as during previous repeating period. At that handling volumes of ro-ro cargoes at the ro-ro terminal of First Stevedoring Company increased twice and amounted to 270 thousand tons. 

Second Stevedoring Company handled 455 thousand tons having improved the previous figures of 2010 by 10%.

Car terminal on the territory of the Third Stevedoring Company handled 8 436 cars, which is by 4 times more than in the previous reporting period. 

Fourth Stevedoring Company decreased its performance indicators by 47% -up to 343 thousand tons. 

Container terminal on the territory of Fourth Stevedoring Company handled 9104 TEUs within 3 months of 2011.

Multipurpose Reloading Complex in Ust-Luga handled 343 thousand tons of cargoes, having decreased the handling volumes by 24%.
