Russian Railways Ships 294,6 mn Tons in January-March
OREANDA-NEWS. April 14, 2011. Russian Railways shipped 294.6 million tons in January-March 2011, 5.5% more than in the same period last year, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
According to the latest figures, the following volumes of freight were shipped in IQ2011. The percentage change compared to the same period in 2010 is shown in brackets:
coal – 75.6 million tons (+1.5%),
coke – 3.2 million tons (+3.4%),
oil and oil products – 63 million tons (+0.8%),
iron and manganese ores – 26 million tons (+8.1%),
ferrous metals – 19 million tons (+9.1%),
scrap ferrous metals – 3.5 million tons (+6.8%),
chemical and mineral fertilisers – 12.2 million tons (+4.6%),
cement – 5.7 million tons (+16.7%),
timber – 10.7 million tons (-0.7%),
grain and ground products – 4 million tons (-11.7%),
construction materials – 30.5 million tons (+28.9%),
non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock – 6.1 million tons (+2.9%),
chemicals and soda – 7.4 million tons (+4.8%),
industrial raw materials and moulded materials – 7.1 million tons (-6.3%),
containerised cargo – 4.6 million tons (+12.6%),
Cargo turnover in IQ2011 was 513.2 billion tariff ton-km (+9%).
Shipping volumes on the Russian Railways’ network in March 2011 totalled 104.7 million tons, surpassing the figure for the same period last year by 1.5%.
Cargo turnover for March 2011 increased by 5.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 181.5 billion tariff ton-km.
