OREANDA-NEWS. April 13, 2011. Tashkent International Airport received one more Airbus-320. This is the sixth aircraft of this type in Uzbekistan Airways fleet, reported the press-centre of Uzbekistan Airways.

In 2007 Uzbekistan Airways signed a contract with Airbus for ten А320. The same year the national airline established a work group of key specialists which supervised and monitored the process of production of aircraft for national carrier. 

Uzbekistan Airways successfully started the commercial operation of A320 on July 19, 2010 when the first aircraft of this type started the flights of national airline. Uzbekistan Airways Technics aircraft maintenance enterprise developed the MRO program of А320 and made up the layout for operative forms of maintenance. Today the volume of works for A-Check of A320 is formed.

For eight months of operation of A320 Uzbekistan Airways implemented 1234 flights on this aircraft (more than 20 flights a week) and carried almost 140 thousand passengers to Amritsar, Delhi, Tel-Aviv, Lahore, Almaty, Bishkek, Krasnodar, Ufa, Kaliningrad, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Moscow and St. Petersburg. 

By the 20th anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan (1 September, 2011) four more А320s will be added to the national airline’s fleet.
