OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2011. The present Government for the period of its activity has reduced wage arrears in Ukraine by 522 million. Thus, starting from March 1, 2010 to April 1, 2011 wage arrears in Ukraine were reduced from 1 billion 737 million UAH to 1 billion 216 million UAH or 30%. Such information gave the first Deputy Minister for Social Policy Vasyl Nadraga, speaking in Parliament during the Question Hour to the Government.

Meanwhile Vasyl Nadraga noted that in general in Ukraine the target of reducing wage arrears haven’t completed yet met, because there is a problem with payment of arrears of wages at bankrupt-enterprises. On April 1, 2011 wage arrears on these enterprises amounted to 533 million UAH or 43.9% of the total wage arrears in Ukraine.

He recalled that in order to repay debts it was approved by the Ministry of Social Policy, according to the Cabinet of Ministers, a special plan of urgent measures to repayment of wage arrears in 2011. In this project provides a clear task to central executive authorities to reduce monthly wage arrears in 2011 to 11%.

"The question of arrears of wages remains one of the most important tasks for the government", - the Deputy Minister said.
