GLONASS Tested for Military Vehicles
OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2011. M2M Telematics Group regional partner in Ryazan, together with Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School (RVVDKU), tested GLONASS technologies on conventional and armored military vehicles.
The purpose of testing was to evaluate GLONASS equipment reliability and feasibility of its adoption for military vehicle use. In the course of the testing, various military vehicle types were equipped with navigation devices.
According to RVVDKU instructor, Candidate of Engineering Sciences, Lieutenant Colonel Vasily Elistratov, tests demonstrated that telematic terminals М2М-Cyber GLX Pro can effectively function in military vehicles. After additional certification by RF Ministry of Defense Main Auto-Armored Tank Directorate (GABTU), these terminals may be cleared for use in military vehicles.
“A number of other evaluations are planned for the future, the results and conclusions from which, together with suggestions, will be forwarded to GABTU. This will substantiate the importance of equipping military vehicles with GLONASS devices,” stated Deputy RVVDKU Chief, Colonel Sergey Bezrukov.
“We pay a lot of attention to testing equipment under special conditions and exploring options of using GLONASS technologies with diverse types of vehicles and equipment, “ added M2M Telematics Managing Director Alexei Smyatskih, “Evaluation results will be used for improving existing and developing new navigation devices.”
