ANA Resumes Operation to Sendai Airport
OREANDA-NEWS. April 8, 2011. ANA is resuming its operation to Sendai Airport, following the announcement today by the Japanese government to partially reopen the airport from April 13. The airport has been closed for commercial flights since March 11 after the tsunami damaged the airport facility.
As a result of efforts aiding recovery by the Japanese ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the self-defense force, the U.S. military and other organizations, the airport is being opened sooner than originally expected. ANA will be operating relief services from Sendai to Tokyo, Haneda from April 13, serving three round trips a day, on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
With operations at Sendai airport partially resumed, ANA is now flying to all the airports in Japan it regularly serves. All of ANA's international and domestic operations with the exception of Sendai have been operating their normal schedule since March 13.
ANA will also paint special livery on five aircraft flying both domestic and international routes, with a message supporting the recovery of Tohoku and Japan. The message, “Forward together as one, Japan” will be painted on the main bodies of a Boeing 777 and 767 in English, and 777, 767 and 737 in Japanese. The special liveried aircraft will start flying from March 13, on ANA's first relief flight to Sendai from Haneda.
