OREANDA-NEWS. April 5, 2011. Tata Refractories (TRL) achieved a turnover of Rs1,000 crore in the financial year 2010–11 which ended on March 31, 2011. This is a very significant achievement in the history of the refractories industry in India. TRL is the first refractories company to achieve Rs1,000 crore sales.

Arup Kumar Chattopadhyay, managing director, TRL, congratulated all the employees and their family members for this singular achievement. He has also urged the employees to give emphasis on customer care, innovation, safety and climate change, and a happy workforce during 2011–12. The company has kept a target of Rs1,250 crore for the financial year 2011–12.

The company has taken a big initiative from April 1, 2011, to implement SAP–ERP which is named 'Project Saphal’. A special drive taken on January 01, 2011, on ‘customer focus’, will be continued in 2011–12 also.

In the function organised on this occasion, Mr Chattopadhyay distributed prizes to the employees who had given good suggestions on customer care. He also handed over the trophies to the team members of two projects which were declared best projects in the Tata Innovista competitions held at Jamshedpur on March 16, 2011. The members of the team selected for ‘Promising Innovation’ category are Dhananjay Behera and SA Habib, and for ‘Dare to Try’ category are S Adak, RP Rana, AS Bal, SK Subudhi and RC Mohapatra for project ‘Micro Wave Firing’.
