OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2011. Ukraine in the next 5 year sis going to increase domestic production of hydrocarbons to minimize dependence on imported energy. For this purpose, "Naftogaz Ukraine" has bought in Singapore drilling platform that will work on the Black Sea shelf. The Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko said this in the telecast "Big politic".

"Today we, I mean" Naftogaz Ukraine", bought the most advanced drilling platform in Singapore and in autumn we put her on the Black Sea, on Subotynske field", - Yuri Boyko said.

According to the minister, increasing own extraction of hydrocarbons will also attract new technologies from world leading companies.

"We were very successful talks with U.S. companies - Halliburton, Chevron and Conoco Phillips that renew old Texas fields. And they come with these technologies to us. We will sign contracts in the summer. We have studied the experience, how they resuscitated the Texas field, in the same way will revive our field in Western Ukraine. And incidentally, the Italian company Eni also will be taken for the same program with intensive gas fields in Eastern Ukraine”, noted Yuriy Boyko.

According to the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, therefore, the state is going in the years to accomplish the task of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, concerning the reduction of energy imports.

"The president set a task before us - the most in 5 years away from purchasing imported energy. And I am sure during this period we will do the task, because we see the future. We have a strategic task, and we go to move away from purchases of imported energy to increase its energy security”, - said Yuri Boyko.
