PM Says on Prospects of Moldovan Travel Agencies
OREANDA-NEWS. April 05, 2011. Moldova’s travel agencies come out in favor of the soonest liberalization of the aviation market resulting in reduction in passenger air transportation’s cost. It was said during the meeting held by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Valerii Lazar to discuss the problems faced by travel operators and agencies of Moldova, according to the Ministry of Economy’s press release.
The National Travel Agencies Association representatives said use of the travel voucher, distorting the official statistics, the content of the travel contract approved by the Government’s decree, the legislation obliging operators to attract at least 50 or 100 tourists to Moldova and to create an internal travel route in order to get a license for activity are the biggest problems in their activity.
The Association’s President Sebastian Botnari also emphasized that travel operators propose to open charter flights in the season, as last year such a route attracted the most part of passengers who went to Turkey from Odessa. However, according to him, the authorities are creating obstacles for realization of this initiative again. The Tourism Agency director Liudmila Dumitras said they are ready to create a basis for permanent dialogue with travel operators and public organizations, representing their interests.
