OREANDA-NEWS. April 01, 2011. The World Bank Country Office in Uzbekistan has launched a grant competition under the Civil Society Social Development Fund (formerly known as World Bank Small Grants Program, further on - CSF) for nonprofit, nongovernmental, nonacademic organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Activities supported by the CSF are intended to promote dialogue and dissemination of information; and enhance partnerships with key players in support of the economic and social development process. The CSF Program-2011 accepts proposals from civil society organizations for activities aimed at promotion of small business and private entrepreneurship.

Individual grants are expected to be in the range of USD1,000-7,000 equivalent. The proposed for funding from the CSF activity should be completed within one year of the date the grant is awarded.

The Program financed from the Social Development Civil Society Fund (CSF) was created in 1983 to provide a way for the World Bank to promote dialogue and dissemination of information about international development outside its own operations. It started its implementation in Uzbekistan in 2000 and since then has financed more than 70 projects.
