RTS Announced Stock Market March 21-25 Weekly Trading Results
OREANDA-NEWS. March 31, 2011. Over the week of March 21-25, 2011, the RTS Index went up by 4.00% to reach 2,041.49 points (1,962.92 points as of March 18, 2011). Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the growing prices for ordinary shares of Sberbank (SBERS) (plus 20.82 points) followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (plus 8.55 points) and Rosneft (ROSNS) (plus 7.28 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, gained 3.61% to reach 12,359.47 points (11,929.01 points as of March 18, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced an increase of 2.44% closing at 2,340.88 points (2,285.11 points as of March 18, 2011).
Last week’s growth on the stock market was accompanied by a decrease of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went down by 8.06% to reach 24.54 points (26.69 points as of March 18, 2011).
Last week all the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated a positive trend. The largest growth was reported by the power sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 6.71%. A sustainable increase was also shown by the finance and metallurgy sectors, with the RTS Finances Index and RTS Metals & Mining Index going up by 4.37% and 3.00% respectively. A decline was demonstrated by the industrial sector, with the RTS Industrial Index shedding 0.51%.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, added 2.33%.
Last week the US dollar depreciated by 1.18% against the ruble to reach 28.40 rubles per US dollar (28.74 rubles as of March 18, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of March 21-25, 2011 equaled USD11.48 billion (325.42 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD2,232.09 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD1,025.05 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD556.28 million and ordinary shares of JSC “LUKOIL” (LKOH) with a turnover of USD263.84 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 45.16%, 24.51% and 11.62% respectively.
The week's top gainers were ordinary of JSC "TGC-1" (TGKA) that went up by 14.29% to USD0.00064 followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "Rostelecom" (RTKM) – by 11.03% to USD6.04 and JSC "OGK-1" (VRPH) – by 9.09% to reach USD0.036.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of Synergy, Co (SYNG) that fell 9.30% to reach USD39 followed by Ufaneftekhim (UFNC) that lost 2.86% to reach USD5.1 and JSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim (NKNC) that lost 2.85% to reach USD0.77.
