Giurgiulesti Port to Put into Operation Terminal for Containers
OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2011. The terminal for containers and general freight in the Giurgiulesti port will be put in commission in May 2011. It was announced by the general investor and operator of the port Danube Logistics company, according to the Ministry of Economy. The works at construction of the freight terminal are currently on the last stage.
The total investments into the port as of January 1, 2011, amounted to USD 46.6 million. USD 7.2 million of them were invested in 2010. Danube Logistics is the general investor, owner and operator of the Giurgiulesti International Free Port. In December 2004, Danube Logistics signed the investment agreement with the Moldovan government for construction of the port.
The Holland holding EASEUR Holding BV and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development are the Danube Logistics’ main shareholders, with 80% and 20% shares. The territory of the Giurgiulesti Port totals 120 hectares, it has a status of the free economic zone and consists of the oil terminal, dry cargo port and the industrial area.
