EBRD Projects for Moldova Bank Sector Amounted to EUR 227 mn
OREANDA-NEWS. March 30, 2011. It was said during the “round table” to discuss opportunities of lending of the country’s bank sector by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development organized on Monday by the Association of Banks of Moldova.
It was said that the EBRD is actively cooperating with Moldovan banks, providing them with an access to its credit lines for micro-, small and medium sized enterprises, to the Trade Facilitation Program, as well as to the Medium-Sized Loan Co-Financing Facility (MCFF). It was said that according to the strategic priorities for 2011-2013, the EBRD plans to extend cooperation with Moldovan banks, to establish partnership with new banks, to develop and promote new financial instruments, particularly, mortgage funding, leasing and credit lines for the sustainable energy.
The macroeconomic situation in the country and prospects of its development in 2011, the situation and tendencies in Moldova’s banking sector, the EBRD’s activity in Moldova, particularly, the technical assistance, credit lines, preferential leasing, trade facilitation programs, micro-lending, small and medium-sized enterprises lending were discussed during the “round table”. Special attention was paid to the EBRD’s cooperation with Moldovan banks and the opportunities of its development in future.
In 1991-2010, the EBRD signed about 90 projects for Moldova in the total amount of 549 million euros. As of the end of 2010, the total portfolio of the EBRD for Moldova amounted to 284 million leis.
