OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. The meetings with the members of the Belgian business delegation headed by Philippe Suinen, CEO of the Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency, who had arrived in our country, were held at the Government and a number of the ministries and departments.

The Belgian delegation consists of the top managers and specialists of a number of the leading companies of this country conducting business in the power, construction, transport and communications, trade and financial sectors and other spheres of the economy. These include such companies as Ses Astra, BNP Paribas Fortis, Texnokom, Arbor, CE+T and others. The visits of the high-level delegation representing the business circles of one of the developed European countries is vivid evidence for the increased interest of western companies in expanding mutually advantageous partnerships with Turkmenistan in a wide spectrum of trade and economic relationships.

The meeting was held at the Government to discuss the possibilities for and priority fields of mutually advantageous cooperation in such areas as the agro-industry, textile financing and banking sectors. Also, the business talks were conducted at the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Motor Transport, the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Turkmenawtoyollary State Concern, the Central Bank and the Ashgabat Khyakimlik.

It was noted during the talks the business circles in Belgium evaluated highly the current social and economic reforms and the ongoing processes of modernisation launched in nearly all sectors of the national economy under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Furthermore, it was emphasized that the strategy for expanding international cooperation and the open door policy pursued by the Turkmen leader along with the favourable investment climate created the conditions conducive to fostering mutually advantageous partnerships with foreign companies.

The meetings with the Belgian businessmen took place at the Ministry of Foreign affairs and a number of sector ministries and departments. The talks focused on a wide range of aspects and prospects for collaboration on a number of specific projects in various sectors of Turkmen economy.
