Head of FAS Met with Head of Ukrainian Antimonopoly Committee
OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. Igor Artemyev, the Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), had a meeting with the recently appointed Chairman of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine Vasily Tsushko, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
At the meeting the parties outlined the most important directions of cooperation between the competition authorities of Russia and Ukraine.
Vasily Tsushko informed the Head of FAS Russia about the plans of Ukraine to form a working group for drafting a new law regulating relations in the field of state procurement, which would introduce the mechanism of electronic trading. He expressed considerable interest towards cooperation with FAS Russia that has done significant work on improving the law, normative legal and methodological basis in state procurement, particularly for introducing the mechanism of state procurement through electronic auctions.
In his term, Igor Artemyev described three initiatives being implemented by FAS Russia in the field of state and municipal procurement and procurement of natural resources. The Head of FAS Russia expressed his confidence that electronic trading would significantly improve access of market participants to the key resources, facilitating development of competition on relevant markets.
The parties stated their readiness to continue cooperation on a bilateral basis as well as within the framework of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP).
