OREANDA-NEWS. March 29, 2011. The Certificate of Construction Completion of the new - constructed pier at the quay No 26 (Siaures Ragas) was signed. The aforementioned pier will be operated by SC „Smiltynes perkela“ to berth ferries that previously were moored in the Danes river, reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.
 
„This project implemented by Port Authority and invested funds is a perfect social investment into the welfare of citizens. In line it is worthwhile to mention that the displacement of the ferries owned by the company „Smiltynes perkela“ is significant both in terms of a  social point and in the terms of safety - this displacement will ensure the safe ferrying as the intensity of navigation by pleasure and small ships in the Danes river has started growing“, - told the director general Eugenijus Gentvilas.

The construction of the pier at the quay No. 26 was launched on the 7th of July of 2009 pursuant to the contract agreement signed with the JSC „Klaipedos hidrotechnika“. As the contractor JSC „Klaipedos hidrotechnika“ failed to fulfil its contractual obligations the contract agreement was terminated on the 9th of April of 2010 with the period of several weeks remaining till the complete fulfilment of contractual obligations.

Simultaneously another issue related to the construction of this object has been solved – the transfer of the quay No.26 to Port Authority to manage, use and dispose under the right of trust. The part of the aforementioned quay previously managed by Klaipeda municipality under the right of trust on the was transferred to Port Authority (to manage, use and dispose) 21st of May of 2010 pursuant to resolution of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.

Works that were not performed by JSC „Klaipedos hidrotechnika“ and supplementary construction works were subsequently performed by JSC „Hidrostatyba“ following the contract agreement on construction works signed on the 8th of July of 2010. The total price of this object is 1,5 million litas. Works in this object started right on the next day after the contract agreement has been signed and were completed pursuant to the planned schedule in 5 months, i.e. on the 9th of December of 2010.

Commission on execution of the construction completion procedures of the object „Construction of Pier at the Quay No.26“ was summoned at the end of February of 2011 and on the 15th of March the Certificate of Construction Completion was signed.
