OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2011. We cannot export people endlessly; we have at our disposal five years at the most to replace the remittances by exports and services. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar made a statement to this effect at meeting with economic advisers at the embassies of France in Russia, Ukraine and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Lazar noted that the French officials showed interest in the economic situation in Moldova, investment opportunities, and especially the privatization process re-launched by the Economics Ministry.

Valeriu Lazar said that the government's priorities are to improve the business climate, in order to attract new investments to create new jobs with competitive salaries. "We have at our disposal five years at the most to lay the foundations of a new economic system, the engine of which are to be the investments and export, and meanwhile the remittances are likely to drop," the minister said.

A yearly 6-7-percent economic growth, ceasing of the residents' exodus and ensuring of a qualitative economic growth during the next years are equally important for us. Thus, we try to break the vicious circle of the economic growth based on consumption, fueled from remittances and supplied from imports, via the economy's industrialization," the deputy prime minister stressed.

Valeriu Lazar said that the main fields in which investments are expected are the agriculture and processing industry. He said that these sectors have an advantage of the increase of the international prices for food products and energy, information technologies and other industries with high added value.
