Pulkovo Airport Launches Service Program for Disabled Passengers
OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2011. Pulkovo airport presented a service program for passengers with disabilities.
The program was developed and introduced in February-March this year. It implies fast-track servicing of wheelchair-passengers. To make use of services, a passenger needs to inform the airport services about the travel having filled in a special form at the airport website www.pulkovoairport.ru in Special Services. It will take several minutes to complete the form, while a passenger identifies himself, destination and the flight number and type of equipment needed (stretcher, wheelchair).
In Pulkovo-1 terminal, arrival hall 1, there also provided a special counter for check-in, inspection and boarding support. In Pulkovo-2, at the entrance of air terminal one gets support at Departure hall information counter. Airport personnel are specially trained to work with passengers with reduced abilities. There have been already purchased three ambulifts and the delivery of the fourth unit is underway.
The program has been supported by Alexey Bakirey, Chairman of the Committee on Transport and Transit Policy of Saint-Petersburg Government and Alexander Rzhanenkov, Chairman of Saint-Petersburg Committee for Social Policy. The new procedure was experienced by one of frequent flyers, the President of the Dance on the Wheels sport club Elena Lozko. “It’s pleasant to see that Pulkovo airport has improved its services for wheelchair passengers. They have a new information stand, lift-assist arrangement, convenient ambulift, altogether providing safe passage. It is important that the disabled passengers will be able to get information about airport services, and the airport, for its part, will always be ready to provide services to such passengers”, says Elena Lozko.
