OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2011. National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna PSU, under Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India, has become the first PSU to produce Aluminium T-ingots in India.

The company has started production of Aluminium T-ingots at its Smelter Plant, Angul, based in Odisha. Aluminium T-ingots are being produced by NALCO for the first time in the country. The commencement of domestic sale of T-ingots was flagged off by Shri Ansuman Das, Director (Commercial) today at Angul in the presence of Shri P.R. Choudhury, ED(S&P) and other senior officials of NALCO. The first few loaded trucks were dispatched to Jindal Aluminium, JSK Industries and Gupta Power Infrastructure Limited. Besides selling of T-ingots in domestic market, export sale of the same will also be made. The T-ingot casting machine having installed capacity of 60,000 MT per annum is supplied by Hertwich Engineering, Austria.

Aluminium T-ingot is superior product which has various benefits such as low level of dross and oxides present, easy and compact storage, fine and uniform grain structure, no cracks, shrink holes and water inclusions, consistent dimensions, straightness and weight, etc.
