RTS Announced Stock Market Weekly Trading Results: March 9-11, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2011. Over the week of March 9-11, 2011, the RTS Index went down by 4.72% to reach 1,929.59 points (2,025.17 points as of March 5, 2011). Most of the negative impact on the RTS Index dynamics was related to the falling prices for ordinary shares of JSC “LUKOIL” (LKOHS) (down 15.99 points) followed by ordinary shares of Gazprom (GAZPS) (down 13.59 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL" (GMKNS) (down 13.54 points).
The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, lost 3.83% to reach 11,724.27 points (12,190.66 points as of March 5, 2011). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 experienced a decrease of 1.77% closing at 2,307.28 points (2,348.82 points as of March 5, 2011).
Last week’s drop on the stock market was accompanied by an increase of volatility levels when the Russian Volatility Index RTSVX went up by 8.04% to reach 25.33 points (23.44 points as of March 5, 2011).
Last week most of the key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market demonstrated negative dynamics. The largest downturn was reported by the metallurgy sector, with the RTS Metals & Mining Index decreasing by 4.89%. A significant decrease was also shown by the oil & gas and power sectors, with the RTS Oil & Gas Index and RTS Electric Utilities Index going down by 4.40% and 4.00% respectively.
The regional index, RTS Siberia Index, lost 3.64%.
Last week the US dollar appreciated by 0.89% against the ruble to reach 28.44 rubles per US dollar (28.19 rubles as of March 5, 2011).

The total securities trading volume on RTS for the week of March 9-11, 2011 equaled USD6.69 billion (189.25 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD1,404.21 million.
The week's top sellers were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD678.86 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD294.84 million and ordinary shares of OAO "LUKOIL" (LKOH) with a turnover of USD179.60 million. The share of each security in the total trading volume made up 47.70%, 20.71% and 12.62% respectively.
The week's top gainers were preferred shares of Ufaneftekhim (UFNCP) that went up by 3.17% to USD1.95 followed by ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-2" (OGKB) – by 2.83% to USD0.0545 and ordinary shares of Synergy, Co (SYNG) – by 2.62% to reach USD43.1.
The week's top losers were ordinary shares of OJSC "Rusgrain Holding" (RUGR) that fell 13.33% to reach USD325 followed by ordinary shares of JSC Raspadskaya (RASP) that lost 13.07% to reach USD6.65 and ordinary shares of OJSC "TGK-6" (TGKF) that shed 10.71% to reach USD0.0005.
