Estonian Fund Backs Developer of Small Wind Turbines
OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2011. The Estonian Development Fund and a co-financer, Sibo Invest OU, have provided 34,000 euros of startup funding to my!WIND OU, a company that develops mini wind turbines for individual households.
The turbines are designed for summer cottages or country farmsteads where cost of hooking up to the power grid can be prohibitive for an average family. The first turbine in the series has the nominal capacity of 5 kilowatts, but the company is also planning to extend its production line to 2- and 10-kilowatt generators.
The advantage of the turbine over similar ones already available in the market is its original design - according to the construction team, it is more robust, needs minimum maintenance and will be sold at a very competitive price.
