Transactions of Moldova Foreign Exchange Market Up 11,8%
OREANDA-NEWS. March 24, 2011. The volume of transactions of the cashless foreign exchange market of Moldova in February 2011 totaled USD 486.83 million, up USD 51.28 million (11.8%) from January this year.
According to data of the National Bank of Moldova, the average daily volume of transitions grew from USD 21.77 million in January to USD 24.34 million in February 2011. The share of operations with US dollars in the total volume of the foreign exchange market transactions in February 2011 constituted 62.04% (USD 302.03 million), with euros - 34.16% (USD 166.3 million), Russian ruble – 2.83% (USD 13.77 million), Romanian lei – 0.07% (USD 371.49 thousand), Ukrainian hrevnya – 0.01% (USD 39.37 thousand).
Compared to January 2011, the share of the turnover with US dollars reduced in February this year by 4.2 p.p., with Russian rubles – by 0.24 p.p., Romanian leis – by 0.13 p.p.. At the same time, the share of the turnover with euros rose by 4.35 p.p., Ukrainian hrevnya – remained on the previous month’s level.
The average MDL’s exchange rate against US dollar in currency purchase and sale transactions in the cashless market in February 2011 amounted to 12.0265 leis (in January – 12.2470 leis), against euros – 16.3805 leis (16.3139 leis in January), Russian rubles – 0.4099 leis (0.4063 leis in January), Romanian lei –3.8683 leis (3.8782 leis in January), Ukrainian hrevnya –1.4959 leis (1.5112 leis in January).
