Byelorussian Steel Works and Michelin Mull Cooperation Deal in 2012
OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2011. Byelorussian Steel Works, or BMZ, and French tire producer Michelin are considering signing a cooperation agreement sometime in 2012 for a period of five years, the Russian association of metalware producers and sellers Rosmetiz said.
Currently, Michelin is BMZ’ second largest customer. In 2010, BMZ supplied 17,000 tonnes of steel wire cord and 6,000 tonnes of bead wire to Michelin, which accounted for 17% and 20% of BMZ’ total supplies, respectively, in 2010.
Byelorussian Steel Works is a state enterprise established in 1984. BMZ exports account for about 85% of total supplies to customers, with 70% of exports going to countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
