This year, faced with fierce market competition, Baosteel automotive sheet production, sales and research work will follow the principle of "maintaining technology advantage, deepening service first approach", enhance automotive sheet total production and sales, stable market share and secure Baosteel automobile sheet's edge in the domestic market. This was announced in the 2011 Baosteel automobile sheet production, sales and research work promotion meeting. Group corporation chairman Xu Lejiang, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. general manager Ma Guoqiang attended the meeting, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

Last year, Baosteel seized market opportunities and the automotive sheet sales was booming. Annual automotive sheet sales rose 30 percent, hitting historical record. There was breakthrough in product certification: two new lines have gained Japanese authentication. There was also further improvement in the process: automobile outer plate large coil triage process operation was established, which effectively enlarged  automotive sheet supply capacity.

This year, Baosteel is faced with challenges of increasing suppliers and product homogeneity competition. To cope with this, Baosteel will use the system advantages, focusing on improving quality, breaking the process bottlenecks, and improving supply chain and achieve the  targets in automotive outer panel production rate, high-strength steel output and cold-rolled automobile sheet sales. In the next phase, Baosteel automotive sheet team will deepen the cooperation and  establish thematic promotion group, will combine production and sales to raise supply capacity, will deepen the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) application and speed up the construction of National Key Laboratory of automobile steel sheet and will hold the first Baosteel automobile steel sheet  EVI Technology Forum.

Ma Guoqiang pointed out that automobile steel sheet was Baosteel's main product and had an important strategic position. He urged that relevant functional departments should carefully study the factors affecting finished product rate and that they should be strict with quality. Automotive sheet production and marketing research team must have a clear goal, strive to achieve breakthrough from steel-making to hot-rolling process and enhance the overall production capacity of the outer plates.

Xu Lejiang requested at the meeting that production, sales and research team should have strategic vision to seize the vehicle board market trend, give timely attention to domestic and international counterparts' manufacture and sales information, that they should optimize the product structure, adjust the division of production line, create  strategic products with competitive advantage and consolidate the competitive advantage which Baosteel has accumulated for more than ten years. He stressed that to improve automobile steel sheet rate, especially the production rate of zinc alloy products was still the focus of daily research, In each process, problem should be clarified and solved, for more improvement.
