OREANDA-NEWS. March 22, 2011. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) is forming the Expert Council on Water Transport and invites to take part in its activities, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The Expert Council on Water Transport shall be formed to facilitate development of competition in water transport and to consider the issues related to compliance of the federal executive bodies, the authorities of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, other bodies and organisations exercising the functions of the above bodies, with the antimonopoly law of the Russian Federation in the field of water transport.

The main expected objectives of the Expert Council are as follow:

- facilitating competition in water transport;

- encouraging competition protection, particularly, preventing, and suppressing monopolistic activities and unfair competition in water transport;

- drafting proposals for improving the law in the field of water transport;

- providing expert examination of documentations and analysis of information submitted for consideration of the Expert Council and its members;

- drafting recommendations for improving government control over compliance with the antimonopoly law of the Russian Federation in the field of water transport;

- cooperation on the issues of improving the antimonopoly law of the Russian Federation on water transport with the federal executive bodies, the authorities of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, other bodies and organisations exercising the functions of the above bodies, and market participants in the field of water transport;

- supporting mass media overage of the pressing issues related to competition and enforcement of the antimonopoly law of the Russian Federation in the field of water transport.

The Expert Council will comprise experts of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, representatives of other federal executive bodies, the authorities of the constituent territories of the Russian Federation, academic community, associations and non-government organizations in the field of water transport.
