IBRAE RAS Calculated Permissible Radiation Doses Outside Fukushima-1
OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2011. The estimated forecast of the situation at power unit No. 2 of Fukushima-1 NPP shows a high probability of the active zone melting.
The Institute of Problems of Nuclear Power Safe Development RAS is carrying out calculating analysis of the further situation development, by reference to the fact of the reactor active zone melting in the vessel.
The results of possible radiation doses calculation outside the site, at the realization of the scenery with the active zone melting in the reactor body at Fukusima-1 NPP power unit No. 2 are the following: 5 km from the site the dose is 50–150 mSv per 10 days; 10 km – the dose is 30–8- mSv/10 days; 20 km – the dose is 20–50 mSv/10 days. The calculation results for Tokyo are 0.2 mSv/10 days.
