Aeroflot Does not Increase Cost of Flights from Tokyo
OREANDA-NEWS. March 21, 2011. Some media outlets report that JSC ‘Aeroflot - Russian Airlines’ has inflated the cost of its flights from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and Tokyo to Moscow, reported the press-centre of Aeroflot.
We stress that this information is not true. Aeroflot has not increased the fares of its flights on these routes.
For example, the economy-class ticket for the next flights from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Moscow are sold by Aeroflot for no more than 36,000 rubles (without taxes and charges).
The minimum commercially available economy-class rate for the flight from Tokyo to Moscow on 18 March is 808 USD, for 19 March, 1,138 USD, and for 20 March, it is 808 USD (without taxes and charges).
In relation to the emergency situation that occurred in Japan and the increased travel demands, beginning 16 March, JSC ‘Aeroflot - Russian Airlines’ increased the capacity of flights to/from Tokyo.
Also, beginning 17 March 2011, an additional flight is performed to Japan (on Boeing-767: 30 business-class seats and 180 economy-class seats) to evacuate Russian citizens. The economy-class tickets for that flight will not be sold in a regular way but will only be distributed, for a special fare, among employees of Russian government institutions in Japan and members of their families. The business-class tickets will be sold in the regular way.
In accordance with the decision made earlier, up to 31 March JSC ‘Aeroflot’ will transport from Tokyo all passengers who have already purchased Aeroflot tickets regardless of the departure date indicated on the ticket without additional payments or penalties, provided that seats are available.
