OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2011. In the north-western part of the Imereti lowland, in close proximity to the Olympic Park, the base plate of the main media center is being built.
Necessary preparatory works have been already completed: to divert water, drainage pipes were laid around the site, which were then covered with rock. It took builders several months to complete these works.

At present the territory of the basement media center area of 9 hectares is divided into sections. Squares, one after another are reinforced and concreted. Over 600 tons of reinforcement and millions of tons of concrete will provide the construction 25 meters high seismic safety that was designed for up to 9 points.

The project includes a press center that can accommodate 15 to 17 thousand people, a telecentre, antenna field, as well as complexes of buildings and facilities to accommodate journalists up to the 3 stars level of service for 600 seats and 4,200 rooms.

At the moment, hotel basement unit has been finished for 600-seats of "three star” category, reinforcing and concreting of the walls of a technical floor is underway. Eight-stores hotel will be adjacent on the one side to media complex, and on the other side it will be facing towards the sea and the Olympic Park. Residential hotel rooms will take floors from 3 to 8 of the building, on the second floor of the building there will be a business center and conference room.

Together with the hotel complex, parking for one and a half thousand vehicles and areas of improvement, area of the ready-to-use media center will be twenty acres.

Construction of the Main Media Center is scheduled to be completed in February 2013.After Olympic games, the Main Media Center building with total area of 25,000 square meters, can be redesigned into a shopping and entertainment center. Executive in charge of the project is JSC "Center" Omega".
